GUIDELINES FOR BIBLE STUDY

  1. Find a translation that works for you
    • Recommended translations:
      • For beginners: NLT (New Living Translation)
      • For those with some experience: NJKV (New King James Version), and ESV (English Standard Version)
  2. Find a quiet place
    • God speaks to our hearts through His word, so find a place that allows you can get alone and concentrate on what He speaks to your heart
  3. Start with a Gospel
    • Everything in the bible is tied together with one central message, which is how Jesus reconciled the Mankind back to God.  Start here to get a better understanding of  scripture
  4. Meditate on what you read
    • Scripture is unique in that you can't just skim it like any other book, but everything that you read needs to be thought through, so that you soak up the meaning of it. Meditating also helps you understand the main point of the passage.
  5. Journal and apply
    • God wants to speak to your heart, so have a journal ready and write down, what sticks out to you as you read. Many times God speaks to our hearts through what sticks out to us as we read.
  6. Ask Questions
    • This is how we learn in life, and it's no different in bible study. If a question comes up ask the Holy Sprit to lead you to the answer. Another good resource is gotquestions.org and If you feel like you need to talk to someone, contact your local Pastor, or anyone who loves Jesus and walks in obedience to scripture.
  7. Don’t give up!
    • Always keep in mind that the overarching point of studying the Bible is to know God better so that He may be glorified. Along the way, we'll be encouraged, challenged and changed into the person we were meant to be.

5 NEXT IMPORTANT STEPS

1. GET INTO THE WORD OF GOD

You simply can't start a relationship with God without being in the WORD OF GOD! Make sure that you get a Bible. If you need one, let us know. Start with the Gospel of John and grow from there.

2. PRAY

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, it says "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Seek God through prayer. Start with a bible study on what prayer looks like; who prayed, what did they ask, how was it honored. It's an essential first step to learning and growing in your new faith.
Need Prayer?  We would be happy to pray for you!

3. GO TO CHURCH

In the Book of Acts, church growth was done through Bible teaching and Community. Be with other believers in a Bible-Teaching Church. Check out out campus locations and service times. Click here.

If you need help choosing one near you, we're here to help. Click here to find a church near you.

We believe that a church should have 3 components, Worship, Word (Bible-teaching) and fellowship but all three need to be centered on the Word of God and Jesus Christ.

4. GET BAPTIZED

When you're ready, "going public" with your relationship with Jesus Christ is an awesome profession of your faith. We do that by being baptized. At Calvary Worship Center, we do corporate baptisms once per quarter as a family. Sign up here.

5. GET IN COMMUNITY

At Calvary Worship Center, we know that we grow when we are in fellowship and study with fellow believers. Our LifeGroups offer several different opportunities to accomplish just that. Find a Life Group here
